'Let's be true to who we are.' David Suzuki on Canada's legacy
"We’ve never been a big player, but you don’t have to be big to have a profound impact."
According to environmentalist and documentarian David Suzuki, Canadians have a lot to be proud of: the way former Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson showed the world that Canadians cared about peace, when Canadians took in tens of thousands of Vietnamese people fleeing from war by boat, and Canada's leadership at the Paris UN climate change summit in December of 2015.
Even though Canada might not be a big player, "you don't have to be big to have a profound impact," he says.
"I think what we have to do is to be true to how we see ourselves at this place. Let's be true to who we are."
