"I'm a single mom. I was married, and my husband was here, so that's how I came to Canada. He's a Nepali, but he became a [Canadian] citizen. It was an arranged marriage back home. I was really nervous. I didn't know him and then coming to a strange country. I cried a lot. It's far. It used to take longer than 24 hours to get here back then. I was really struggling all those years in that marriage.

I became separated. Back home it's not normal, like here.

I became separated. Back home it's not normal, like here. I'm the first one in my family who's going through situation, so even to say that, or announce that to family, it was quite shocking."
