2024 applications open: CBC Indigenous Pathways to Journalism program

Applications for CBC's Indigenous Pathways to Journalism program are open for 2024-25. This paid, full-time, 9-month learning and development opportunity supports First Nations, Inuit or Métis candidates to hone their skills as storytellers at CBC, the national public broadcaster.

Now in its third year, Indigenous Pathways provides journalism training, career development support, and work experience. Applicants do not require journalism education or experience to apply.

In this program, participants will:

• Develop skills and tools for advancing a career in journalism and storytelling
• Explore multi-platform storytelling through writing, images and sound (i.e., digital, television and radio/podcasts)
• Create stories that connect with Indigenous audiences and reflect diverse perspectives
• Grow relationships with, and be supported by, mentors, trainers, peers, and Indigenous CBC colleagues
• Gain valuable professional experience working at CBC, the national public broadcaster, in journalism and storytelling

• You are an aspiring First Nations, Inuit or Métis journalist
• You have a deep interest in multimedia storytelling
• You are connected to your community and passionate about its stories
• You want to gain practical, hands-on experience working at CBC.
