Great-West Life has withdrawn a request to clear the Milner House on Balmoral Street for demolition.

Last week a city committee recommended the house keep its protected, historic designation.

Great-West wanted to tear it down to make room for more parking.

The city committee's decision was set to go to Executive Policy Committee and Winnipeg City Council next for approval.

But a lawyer for Great-West Life says in light of the committee's decision, the company is backing away from the request to de-list the property.
