Crash kills man, 22

A two-vehicle collision just north of Winnipeg claimed the life of a 22-year-old man.
The crash happened at about 9 p.m. Wednesday on McPhillips Street (Highway 8) at Grassmere Road, about three kilometres north of the Perimeter Highway in the Rural Municipality of West St. Paul.
The 22-year-old was driving a car that was crumpled nearly beyond recognition.
A 31-year-old man who was driving a pickup truck, the front end of which was crushed, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The truck was travelling south on Highway 8 and the car was eastbound on Grassmere when they collided, police said.
The 22-year-old man was from West St. Paul.
The 31-year-old is from from Winnipeg Beach, police said.
Alcohol is considered to be a factor, said police, who continue to investigate.
The name of the 22-year-old man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
