4 charged in alleged B.C. murder conspiracy

Four men are facing charges including conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the drug trade in Cranbrook, B.C., police say.
The intended victim was a 39-year-old Cranbrook resident, RCMP said Wednesday. Police did not name the person.
Charged are Lonnie James Adams, 33, Colin Raymond Correia, 33, Lorne William Murray Carrey, 28, and Chad Everett Munroe, 33. Police did not say whether the men were from the city, about 500 kilometres east of Vancouver.
All four are facing one count each of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and counselling to commit the offences of aggravated assault and murder, and all are known to police, said RCMP Sgt. Shinder Kirk.
Police believe the alleged conspiracy was hatched out of revenge for a shooting in which a man was wounded in a Cranbrook bar Oct. 29, 2009.
Police also believe a double homicide on a rural property outside Cranbrook on May 29 may have been a case of mistaken identity connected with the plot, Kirk said.
"Although police will not speculate on the motive for [these slayings], we do confirm that the intended target of the earlier murder conspiracy had previously occupied the home," Kirk said.
No arrests have been made in the homicides.
