Halifax Regional Police's major crime unit is investigating a fatal shooting in suburban Harrietsfield.
Police identified the victim as Terry Marriott Jr., 34.
The victim's family has been linked in local media reports to a violent drug feud in the city, but police say they have no evidence to connect the feud and the killing.
Marriott was found dead in a bungalow on Whitehead Road shortly after 5 p.m. AT Friday after officers received a call that someone at the residence had been injured.
Theresa Rath, a spokeswoman for the police, said Marriott was "known to police" but "there's no information to suggest that this is linked in any way to a drug war."
Police said Marriott did not live at the home, but Sgt. Garry Smith said it's believed he was shot inside the residence.
Investigators took five people to police headquarters for questioning, but all have been released.
Police returned to the house Saturday morning to continue forensic work. They also advised the public that access to Whitehead Road remained restricted.
