Father of young man slain in 2006 issues plea for information

The father of a young Regina man stabbed to death at a bush party nearly three years ago is appealing for anyone with information about his son's slaying to come forward.
Lorne Pavelick made the plea Wednesday as the RCMP provided an update on their investigation into the death of Misha Pavelick, a 19-year-old who died following violence in a field near Regina Beach on May 21, 2006.
No charges have been laid, but the investigation is continuing, police said.
There were more than 100 people at the party, but when some uninvited guests showed up, a brawl broke out. Pavelick was fatally stabbed and another young man who came to his aid, Derek Enns, was seriously injured.
Scott Robert Nelson was charged with aggravated assault for stabbing Enns and was given a 38-month sentence — 16 months after credit for time already served.
In providing the update Wednesday, RCMP spokesman Sgt. Brian Jones said police have interviewed more than 125 people and are confident they have identified everybody who was in the immediate vicinity in the moments before Pavelick was stabbed.
Lorne Pavelick said he wants to do everything he can to solve the mystery of his son's death and bring the person or persons responsible to justice. He also issued the plea for people with information to come forward.
Police are asking people to call the RCMP major crimes unit at 780-5582. People with information can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
