Rainfall warnings issued for much of western, central Alberta

Environment Canada says some areas could see up to 70 millimeters of rain
A major downpour is expected on Monday in parts of western and central Alberta.
Rainfall warnings issued by Environment Canada said amounts could range from 50 to 70 millimetres. The warning states that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, and localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas.
Environment Canada said winter conditions could be expected in higher elevations in the foothills, and parts of the region could receive 10 centimetres of wet snow accumulation.
The warning said rainfall will intensify Monday morning and will continue through the night.
Environment Canada issued rainfall warnings for the following areas:
- Brazeau County near Brazeau Dam and near Cynthia and Lodgepole.
- City of Red Deer.
- Clearwater County (several areas including near Caroline, Chungo Creek, Nordegg and Crimson Lake).
- Kananaskis Improvement District near Kananaskis Village and near Highwood House.
- Lacombe County near Eckville.
- Municipal District of Bighorn near Canmore, Exhshaw, Ghost Lake and Ghost River Wilderness).
- Mountain View County (several areas including near Carstairs, Cremona, Olds and Sundre).
- O'Chiese 203 reserve.
- Red Deer County (several areas including near Penhold, Spruce View, Sylvan Lake and Bowden).
- Rocky View County (Several areas including near Airdrie, Bottrel, Cochrane and Robb).
- Yellowhead County near Minnow and Wold Lakes and Elk River).
A snowfall warning has been issued for the Kananaskis region.
Environment Canada cautioned that possible washouts could occur near rivers, creeks, and culverts..
The rainfall is expected to taper off on Tuesday morning.
