Man faces charges after woman struck by vehicle in Cape Breton

Pedestrian was found lying in a ditch in Portage, N.S., with life-threatening injuries

A 41-year-old Cape Breton man is facing charges after a woman was struck by a vehicle this week in Portage, N.S.
According to a news release, RCMP responded to a call of a vehicle-pedestrian collision around 7:45 a.m. on May 6.
Police found a 30-year-old woman lying in a ditch with life-threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital.
The woman had been hit by a vehicle that police identified as a grey Dodge 3500 truck. The vehicle failed to remain at the scene.
The driver turned himself in later that morning and was arrested in Big Pond, N.S.
The man is scheduled to appear in Sydney provincial court on Aug. 7 to face charges of aggravated assault and failing to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm.
