The Crown is appealing a three-month conditional sentence for Pat King, a key organizer of the 2022 convoy protests in downtown Ottawa.
King was placed under house arrest in February. He revealed the Crown's plan to appeal his sentence during a live appearance alongside his lawyer on social media Wednesday night.
CBC News has separately confirmed the pending appeal.

In November, King was convicted in Ontario Superior Court on five criminal charges: mischief, counselling to commit mischief, counselling to obstruct a public or peace officer, and two counts of disobeying a court order. He was found not guilty on three counts of intimidation and one count of obstructing police.
The Crown is appealing those findings, as well as the sentence. Crown prosecutors had originally sought a 10-year sentence, the maximum penalty for mischief.
Superior Court Justice Charles Hackland found King "personally led a large convoy" and was an "active participant" with supporters in disrupting Ottawa and bringing the "core of the city to a standstill" in January and February 2022.
