When the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge reopens to traffic on Monday, there will be no tolls for the first time in its&nbsp;70-year history.&nbsp;

The Halifax bridge is closed this weekend for crews to remove the toll plaza and prepare the bridge for fare-free traffic.

Tim Houston and his PC party campaigned in 2024 on a promise to remove tolls from the harbour&nbsp;bridges.&nbsp;

More than 200,000 Nova Scotians have MacPass accounts — the system used to pay tolls through a transponder&nbsp;— and balances will be refunded in the coming weeks.

Starting Monday morning, the A. Murray MacKay and Angus L. Macdonald bridges will no longer have tolls. As work to bring down the toll plazas continues, there are questions about how it will all work for drivers. Josh Hoffman explains.
