A second man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Jorge-Ivan Navas in Vaughan last summer, York Regional Police say.
In a news release Thursday, investigators said a 31-year-old Markham man has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder related to the death of the 57-year-old, who was shot in his driveway in August 2024.
This comes after another man was charged in connection with the shooting last month.
"Investigators believe this is a targeted incident and there is no concern for public safety," the news release says. "The investigation remains ongoing."
The shooting happened on Aug. 9 around 2 p.m., police say, in the area of Islington and Kiloran avenues. Responding officers found Navas in his driveway, suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died in hospital.
