A man in critical condition was transferred to Winnipeg from a hospital in The Pas after being injured in a shooting Friday night, one in a string of three incidents RCMP in northern Manitoba are investigating.
Mounties first responded to reports of possible shots being fired outside a home on Settee Avenue in The Pas at around 9 p.m. on Friday.
After speaking with residents in the home, police said they couldn't confirm whether or not a firearm was used, RCMP said in a news release Saturday afternoon.
Police added that the Settee Avenue's house was not damaged and officers couldn't find any witnesses to the incident.
At around 9:30 p.m., police were dispatched to another home in The Pas on Patrick Avenue for reports of a possible shooting.
Inside the home, officers were directed to a 31-year-old man who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported the man to hospital, but he was later transferred to Winnipeg in critical condition, police said.
RCMP said the incident appears to be targeted and no one else was found injured at the home.
At around 4:45 a.m. Saturday, RCMP were notified a 26-year-old man had arrived at the hospital with a gunshot injury.
Police said they spoke with the man who told officers he was shot while sitting inside a vehicle parked outside a home in Umpherville, a community just outside of The Pas, which is about 521 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
The 26-year-old was released from hospital with minor injuries, RCMP said.
Mounties believe there is no threat to the community at this time as the suspect and victims were known to each other.
The RCMP and its forensic identification unit continue to investigate, canvassing the areas where the three incidents happened, the release said.
They are asking residents to remain vigilant and call 911 to report any suspicious activity.
Police are also appealing for any witnesses or residents who might have video surveillance on Patrick Avenue between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. on Friday to call The Pas detachment at 204-627-6204 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
