A London Knights defenceman will be back on the ice in less than two weeks after being sentenced for drunk driving.
Cam Allen, 20, was charged on Feb. 8 with impaired driving in a single-vehicle crash several days earlier near Colonel Talbot Road and Clayton Walk in the Lambeth area.
Allen's car was found with blood inside, a passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries, and police found Allen at a nearby address, officers said at the time.
Allen entered a guilty plea, and on Feb. 27, he was sentenced by a London judge to a two-year driving ban, two years of probation and a $4,200 fine.
"Now that the legal matter has been concluded, the OHL has imposed several requirements on Allen in order to be reinstated to play in the league, which he will be eligible for starting on Sunday, Mar. 16, following a period of 15 games under suspension," the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) wrote in a statement.
It said Allen will be required to participate in a substance use therapy program. He'll also be required to perform community service within the hockey community. There will also be a probationary period, once he returns to the ice.
Originally from Toronto, Allen is a Washington Capitals prospect who was drafted as a fifth-round pick in 2023. He played for the Guelph Storm before joining the Knights in December.
