Queen Elizabeth Annex school to stay open

The Vancouver School Board has voted to keep Queen Elizabeth Annex Elementary School open.
The board originally planned to raise about $20 million by closing the small elementary school and selling the property.
But chair Clarence Hansen said Wednesday evening that the board has agreed to transfer the Ann-Hébert school building in Killarney to the province instead.
That facility is currently operated as École Ann-Hébert by the province's independent French education program.
"We're actually not going to be displacing any Vancouver students. It will continue operating as that, but now it will be transferred to the French provincial education program," said Hansen.
