Nova Scotia's police watchdog is investigating after a 25-year-old man died while in Halifax Regional Police custody Saturday night.

Halifax police were called to a condo&nbsp;building on Vimy Avenue in Fairview Saturday&nbsp;around 7:45 p.m. AT.

A Sunday news release issued by Halifax police said the man was experiencing a mental health crisis.

A news release issued by the province's police watchdog, the Serious Incident Response Team, said a struggle happened between police and the man, and the man was Tasered.

The police news release said the man "became aggressive" with police prior to being Tasered.

Halifax police say&nbsp;the man was taken into custody and when his health worsened, they provided first aid. Paramedics and firefighters also provided help, but paramedics concluded the man was dead.

Halifax police referred all inquiries to SIRT.

In an email Sunday, a SIRT spokesperson said the man died at the Vimy Avenue address.

The spokesperson said no one was available for an interview.

Door-to-door transportation service fills transit gap in rural St. Mary's

Pictou County RCMP are investigating a fatal crash on Thursday that left a 73-year-old woman dead near Salt Springs, N.S.
