Man critically injured in Montreal's east end after being hit by city bus

Victim was heading toward the bus on Pie-IX Boulevard when he may have slipped, police say

A man was critically injured in Montreal after he likely slipped and fell under a city bus, according to police.
The event happened on Pie-IX Boulevard at around 4:30 p.m., near Ste-Catherine Street, in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.
The pedestrian, 42, was heading south toward the bus, which was travelling north, police say.
The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition with injuries to his lower body.
Nobody on the bus was injured. Police established a perimeter to investigate.
In an update Wednesday night, police said they no longer feared for his life.
