This Black History Month, join us for an intimate performance with Rome IX (pronounced Rome Eye-Ex), a captivating Canadian Indie-Soul artist. Experience a unique journey into his world as a songwriter, musician, and storyteller.
Rome IX, the name itself representing cycles of beginnings and endings in his musical journey, will share his creative process, exploring the inspiration behind his soulful arrangements and deeply personal lyrics. From solo performances and bands to live looping, Rome's artistry blends live instruments and electronic production, with guitar as his cornerstone.
Witness Rome IX's musical magic firsthand as he weaves together Indie, Soul, and Funk, drawing inspiration from artists like Jason Mraz, Miguel, and Stevie Wonder. He'll showcase his guitar mastery and innovative use of pedals, creating a rich, layered soundscape. Beyond the music, Rome will share insights into his songwriting craft, revealing the stories and emotions shaping his songs. About the artist:
Rome IX is a Canadian Indie-Soul musician whose artistry spans music, acting, and filmmaking. Based in Calgary, Rome draws inspiration from personal and observed experiences, ever a student of the human condition. His artistry is defined by a passion for deep lyrics, soulful arrangements, and storytelling influenced by artists like Jason Mraz, Miguel, and Stevie Wonder.
A two-time YYC Music Awards nominee, Rome IX released his debut album, Losing in Vain, a ten-song blend of Indie-Soul and Funk. Written by Rome IX, the album reflects more than a decade of musical growth and features an eight-piece band with a horn section. The project combines live instruments and electronic production, mixing modern tones with the energy of live performance.
