Canadian National Railway (CN) crews are investigating a train derailment that occurred in Emo, Ont., early Tuesday morning.
The 14 cars involved were transporting potash and derailed around 7:32 a.m. in Emo's west end, said the statement.
"The cause is currently under investigation," CN said in an emailed statement. No reported dangerous goods were involved.
"There is no danger to the public," said the township, asking people to stay away from the derailed cars as CN crews investigate.

No streets are closed, but Canning Lane and Colonization Road will be limited to local traffic, said the township in an email to CBC. As cleanup equipment arrives, it will be unloaded on Canning Lane and parked in the arena parking lot off Colonization Road.
"We have reports of multiple grain-style train cars off the tracks … blocking the Tompkins Road crossing, and down into the centre of Emo," said a Facebook post from Chapple, Emo and La Vallee Fire and Emergency Services.
The crossing bars are also down on the west Front Street crossing. Traffic is able to cross at the Queen Street crossing on the east side of Emo.

Multiple previous derailments nearby

Tuesday's derailment was near the site of another derailment roughly five years ago.
A CN train carrying crude oil derailed on Feb. 18, 2020 as it turned a corner near Emo. Thirty-three rail cars went off the tracks, with three of them confirmed to be partially leaking crude oil. Multiple homes near the derailment were evacuated.
Canada's Transportation Safety Board (TSB) said the 2020 derailment was caused by ice buildup. The TSB investigation in 2020 found the tracks where the train derailed "met or exceeded" minimum maintenance standards at the time.
Other previous derailments in the area include two in Fort Frances in 2014 and 2015, two in Barwick in 2015 and 2019, and a rail collision in Fort Frances in 2019, in which several cars derailed.
