Nidhua Muktadir was reported missing on Dec. 4
Elgin County OPP said a body found along the Lake Erie shoreline near Port Bruce is that of 19-year-old Nidhua Muktadir, who was reported missing from the London area in early December.
Police were called to Waneeta Beach near Port Bruce on Saturday after a member of the public found a dead individual on the shore. They reported the discovery of the body but would not confirm the identity pending the coroner's investigation.
On Tuesday, police confirmed the body was that of Muktadir.
The Fanshawe College student was reported missing by London police on Dec. 3, sparking a lengthy search in the area of Hawk Cliff, east of Port Stanley.
She was last seen on Hawk Cliff Road, about 14 kilometres west along the Lake Erie shoreline from where her body was found, 32 days later.
The search for Muktadir was conducted by the OPP emergency response team, aviation, canine, and marine units but was called off in mid-December, police said Tuesday.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing, police said.
They added there is no risk to public safety, and no foul play is suspected.
