Large fire breaks out in commercial building near Pearson airport Sunday

No impact to flights but crews expected to be on scene for several hours

Firefighters are expected to be on scene for several hours Sunday at a significant fire in a commercial building in Mississauga near the Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Crews were called about the second-alarm fire at 1787 Drew Road at around 8:45 a.m., said Mississauga Fire Service Platoon Chief Derrick Wilson.
When they arrived, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames, Wilson said.
Crews will likely be on scene into the evening, he added.
No injuries were reported.

Drew Road is closed to traffic between Tranmere Drive to Bramlea Road, Peel Regional Police said in a social media post.
Toronto Pearson Airport said via a post on X that the fire hasn't impacted its operation and flights have been departing and arriving with no issues.
