Homicide team investigating death of woman found at Port Moody, B.C., marina

Police say woman in her 60s was found in water near Reed Point Marina on Jan. 1

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in the waters of a Port Moody, B.C., marina on New Year's Day.
Port Moody police say they were called to the Reed Point Marina around 9:20 a.m. PT on Jan. 1 when a person was reported in the water.
They say the body of a woman in her 60s was pulled to shore with help from the coast guard.
According to homicide investigators, the circumstances of her death have since been deemed suspicious and criminality has not been ruled out.

Investigators say officers are canvassing for witnesses and video surveillance, but the victim is not being identified to respect her family's privacy as they grieve.
IHIT says investigators believe it was an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public, but is asking anyone with information to reach out.

"We are interested in speaking with anyone who was in the area of Reed Point Marina between 3 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2024, and 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025," Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT said in a statement.
"Dashcam video would be especially helpful and we are asking you to contact IHIT as soon as possible."
