Red panda cub and giraffe passed away in unrelated incidents

Two animals have died at the Toronto Zoo over a period of a week this summer, the facility has announced.
The most recent incident, which officials say was unrelated to the first, was the death of a red panda cub Wednesday.
"While this outcome is not unexpected given their high mortality rate in their first year, we are truly saddened by this loss," zoo officials said in a statement on social media.
A post-mortem examination revealed the cub, which was born on June 13, had no fat reserve, alongside other health issues:

That loss followed the death of a two-year-old Masai giraffe on July 25 due to complications from anesthesia during surgery.
