Republicans will assemble in Milwaukee on Monday to kick off the Republican National Convention, where the party will formally nominate Donald Trump as its presidential candidate to take on Joe Biden in the Nov. 5 U.S. election and approve a party platform.
It's expected that Trump will accept the party's nomination for president with a speech on Thursday, the final day of the convention. It'll be the third time Republicans have chosen him as their candidate since the former real estate entrepreneur and reality TV host entered politics in 2015.
An estimated 50,000 people — delegates, volunteers, media, visitors and police — will gather for the event in the area of the Fiserv Forum near the city's downtown.
CBC News will have special coverage of the event. Here's how to follow along:
The 2024 Democratic National Convention is scheduled for Aug. 19-22 in Chicago.
