Heavy rain — as much as 50-60 mm — heading to southern Manitoba

Localized flooding in low-lying areas possible, Environment Canada says

Rain, at times heavy, is expected to soak southern Manitoba starting Thursday night through to Saturday afternoon.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for a chunk of southern Manitoba.
As much as 50-60 millimetres is expected by the time the skies clear up again on Saturday.
The heavier rain is forecast for late Thursday night, as a strong low-pressure system tracks northward from the Dakotas, the weather agency's alert(external link) says, warning that localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Most of the rain with this system is expected to fall on Friday, then taper off through Saturday.

It will also come with strong north wind gusts up to 60 km/h, and much cooler temperatures.
A high of 9 C is forecasted for Winnipeg on Friday, followed by a high of 11 C on Saturday.
The normal high for this time of year is 21 C.
