A 20-year-old man from Sydney died Saturday in a single-vehicle car crash on&nbsp;Highway 125 near Point Edward, N.S.

According to Nova Scotia RCMP, first responders were called to the crash scene&nbsp;just before 6 p.m.

Once they arrived, they found a badly damaged car that appeared to have overturned, according to a media release.

The driver, the only person in the car at the time, was ejected from the vehicle, police say. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is underway.&nbsp;Highway 125 was closed for several hours but has reopened.

Cape Breton volunteer fire department shuts down due to lack of volunteers

A fire department that served a Cape Breton area near Glace Bay is closing due to a lack of volunteers. Tower Road will now be served by nearby fire departments.

Cape Breton regional councillors voted Tuesday to officially put an end to the Tower Road Volunteer Fire Department after reports that some firefighters wanted to restart the service.
