A large Winnipeg police presence was seen on Furby Street in the West Broadway neighbourhood, responding to what they described as a serious incident.
Officers were seen Thursday at an apartment block at 25 Furby St., between Wolseley and Cornish avenues.
Several police vehicles and two ambulances were near the apartment in the afternoon, including at least four undercover units and a mobile command unit.
Police asked the public to avoid the area around 4 p.m., but said on social media shortly after 6 p.m. that the incident had ended and affected residents nearby were being updated.
Over a dozen police officers were outside the front of the apartment block shortly after 5:30 p.m., but the majority of them were seen leaving the area before 6 p.m.
Some residents were seen being escorted back into the building by officers shortly after 6 p.m.
A forensics unit truck had been seen in front of the building on Wednesday afternoon, but police said they had no updates to provide on Thursday.
A police armoured vehicle was also seen in the parking lot of the apartment block on Thursday afternoon.
CBC has requested comment from police.
