Every year in the U.K., artists compete to have the No. 1 song on the charts on Christmas Day.
And they don't have to be Christmas songs: past winners include Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine.
Being on top of the charts can be a major boost for both up-and-coming and established artists — if you've ever seen Love, Actually, you have a sense of what the competition can look like.
