Londoners once again dug deep for our neighbours in need, donating an incredible&nbsp;$63,021.05 and nearly 250 kg&nbsp;of food!&nbsp;

CBC London dedicated&nbsp;the month of December&nbsp;to raising awareness about food insecurity, acts of generosity in our community and the unprecedented need at the London Food Bank.

We kicked off the month with a live broadcast of London Morning at the food bank warehouse where people involved in grassroots projects told us why they are motivated to give back.&nbsp;

Thanks to your kindness, $54,500 was raised in donations during the live broadcast on Dec. 8 and 170 kg of food was collected for the London Food Bank.&nbsp;

Sounds of the Season on London Morning

London Morning went live from the London Food Bank for their annual Sounds of the Season campaign on Dec. 8, featuring Londoners making a difference, along with holiday songs by the Beal Singers.

We asked listeners to share stories of those&nbsp;making a difference in London. Here are some of the people and organizations we were able to highlight:

Northwest London food bank expands to address growing hunger in the community

Starting in January, the Northwest London Food Bank will be operating from a new location at the Sherwood Forest Mall and run six days a week to address the community's growing need.

More seniors on the brink of homelessness facing evictions and unaffordable rent, experts say

In the past 15 years, Donna McCrae, 73, has been evicted from two different rental units because owners were either demolishing the properties or selling them.

St. Thomas Elgin food bank is totally digging the help from local farmers

As grocery prices and visits to food banks increase, local food banks are grateful for the help they're getting from farmers in southwestern Ontario.

Chris Devries of Common Ground farm near St. Thomas makes regular donations of fresh vegetables to the local food bank. He said it's a good way to use excess product, and also leads to a tax break.

Food hampers give London high school students chance to use their cooking skills and give back

From making a grocery list, getting the ingredients, cooking the food and tying the bows on the food-filled boxes, students at B. Davison Secondary School are involved in every aspect of getting hampers ready for those who need a helping hand this holiday season.
