What to know about the Point Douglas riding for Manitoba's 2023 election

The modern version of the north Winnipeg riding of Point Douglas was established in 1989, after an earlier version existed from 1969 to 1978.
The riding's main eastern border is the Red River. The northern end of the riding extends to Arlington Street on the west, while in the southern part, the western boundary is Isabel Street.
Its main northern boundary is Church Avenue, with a small section of the riding ending at Redwood Avenue. Point Douglas's southern boundaries are the CPR Winnipeg Yards in the west side of the riding, and Notre Dame/Pioneer avenues on the riding's eastern side.
The riding includes the neighbourhoods of North Point Douglas and South Point Douglas on the east side of Main Street, and the William Whyte and Centennial neighbourhoods west of Main Street.
Its population is 24,480, according to Elections Manitoba's riding profile(external link) (compiled from the 2021 census).
The median age of the riding is slightly below the overall provincial median, at 34.0 in Point Douglas, compared to 38.4 provincewide, according to the riding profile(external link) and the 2021 census(external link). The median household income in the area is $51,200, according to the census data.
