This will be the second election for the southeast Winnipeg riding of Lagimodière, which was created in the 2018 riding redistribution.
Lagimodière was created to accommodate significant growth in Sage Creek, the Manitoba Electoral Boundaries Commission said. It was formerly the southern part of the Southdale riding, which had experienced considerable population growth.
The riding runs from Abinojii Mikanah (formerly Bishop Grandin Boulevard) along a Manitoba Hydro corridor in the north to city limits in the south. Its western boundary is St. Anne's Road and the Seine River and its eastern boundary is Plessis Road.
The riding includes the neighbourhoods of Island Lakes and Sage Creek.
The riding's population is 25,790, says the province's Elections Manitoba's riding profile (compiled with data from the 2021 census).
The median age of the riding is slightly older than the Manitoba median, at 39.6 compared to 38.4 provincewide, the riding profile says. The median household income in the area is $114,000, according to the 2021 census.
