The northeast Winnipeg riding of Kildonan-River East is made up of large pieces of the former Kildonan and River East ridings.
The riding straddles the Red River, bounded to the north by city limits on the west side of the river and by Glenway Avenue on the east side. Its southern boundary runs along Leila Avenue on the west side of the river and Rossmere Crescent on the east side.
The riding includes the neighbourhoods of Kildonan Drive, Valhalla, River East, Rivergrove and Riverbend, and a small portion of the north of Seven Oaks.
Kildonan-River East's population is 22,115, according to the riding's profile (which includes information compiled from the 2021 census).
The median age of the riding is older than the overall provincial median, at 47.6 compared to 38.4 provincewide, according to the riding profile and the 2021 census. The census found the median household income in the area is $84,000.

Voting history
The 2019 provincial election was Kildonan-River East's first as a riding.
Voters elected Progressive Conservative candidate Cathy Cox, who had previously served as the representative for the former River East riding — which had been blue since 1986. Meanwhile, the former Kildonan riding was NDP from 1990 until the 2016 provincial election, when its voters elected a Progressive Conservative candidate.

- Ian MacIntyre (Liberal).
- Alana Vannahme (Progressive Conservative).
- Rachelle Schott (NDP).
Candidates become official when they meet criteria set out in the province's Elections Act, including providing a statement of disclosure, after the election has been called. In Kildonan-River East, all candidates are official.
