The south Winnipeg riding of Fort Richmond was created in 2008, and was first part of a general election in 2011.
Fort Richmond is bounded on the west by Waverley Street and Shahi Street and on the east by the Red River. Its southern boundary is the Perimeter Highway and its northern boundary runs along Bison Drive, Pembina Highway and an area just north of Markham Road.
The riding includes the neighbourhoods of Fort Richmond and Richmond West.
Its population is 24,365 according to the province's riding profile (which includes information compiled from the 2021 census).
The median age of the riding is younger than the overall provincial median, at 33.2 compared to 38.4 provincewide, according to the riding profile and the 2021 census. The census found the median household income in the area is $80,000.

- The riding has slightly fewer children 14 and younger than the province in general (15.6 per cent compared to 18.8 per cent) and slightly fewer adults 65 and older (14.5 per cent compared to just under 17.1 per cent), according to the riding's profile and the 2021 census.

As of Sept. 11, the nominated candidates for the 2023 election are:
- Paramjit Shahi (Progressive Conservative).
- Ernie Nathaniel (Liberal).
- Jennifer Chen (NDP).
Candidates become official when they meet criteria set out in the province's Elections Act, including providing a statement of disclosure, after the election has been called. In Fort Richmond, all three candidates are official.
