An isolated dump of rainfall that Environment Canada officials are calling a "once-in-a-century event," brutally impacted roadways and homes in the village of Glencoe, located southwest of London, Ont.
Residents have been frantically trying to pump their flooded basements, and many roads are still closed as they grapple with the amount of water on the roads.
The intense weather event also led to the death of the driver of a transport truck who was killed when his vehicle fell into a 3-metre deep sinkhole caused by the flooding. Highway 402 was also closed, reopening on Thursday morning.
