Planner turned city councillor has pitched himself as a would-be 'mayor of action'
Brad Bradford had his turn to tell CBC Radio's Metro Morning why he should be Toronto mayor's Tuesday, saying he would look for "common sense solutions" to the city's challenges and impose more accountability at city hall.
Bradford, the current councillor for Beaches–East York, said he would be a mayor of action and chalked up many of the city's problems to political inertia.
"No one wants to make a decision," he said of his fellow city councillors.
Bradford has promised to keep property tax increases at or below the rate of inflation and tackle gridlock.

He said the city needs to "get more juice from the squeeze" when it comes to spending and services, and that he would address the $1.5-billion budget deficit in part by lobbying for provincial and federal dollars for the TTC.
Recent public opinion polls have consistently put Bradford's support at or below five per cent, trailing behind top candidates Olivia Chow, Mark Saunders, Ana Bailão, Anthony Furey, Josh Matlow and Mitzie Hunter. That has fuelled speculation Bradford may drop out. But he told Metro Morning he has no such plan.
Who is Bradford?
Bradford is a former city planner who was first elected to council in 2018.
He emerged as a key ally for John Tory, becoming the former mayor's go-to person on housing and voting with him roughly 93 per cent of the time.
After Tory resigned, Bradford hinted for weeks at entering the race — perhaps most notably by going to Scarborough for a patty in a campaign-style video posted on Twitter — then jumped in with support from those linked to Ontario's PC party.
There are a record 102 people running for mayor on June 26. Tuesday marks the final day of advance voting.
