Traditional favourites get combined for mini-donut lemonade
If you've been longing to try a few unusual dishes that challenge your taste buds in more ways than one, you'll be happy to know this year's food lineup for Calgary Stampede has been announced.
As expected, the list of dishes for Calgary Stampede 2023 has many unusual combinations.
Some noteworthy midway treats to look out for include ketchup and mustard ice cream, the Kool-Aid chicken burger, peanut butter pickle dogs, Flamin' Hot dill cookies and more.
Fans of classic Stampede fare like mini donuts won't be disappointed — from corn dogs and poutine to a refreshing lemonade and a generous scoop of ice cream, there's a lot to look forward to.
"The flavourful foods coming to the Stampede midway are sure to impress guests," said Kyle Russell, director of Stampede programming. "This fantastic culinary experience is one you won't want to miss for all 10 days at the Calgary Stampede."
For Jeremy Andrews, owner of Calgary-based Family Squeezed Lemonade, crafting new recipes with his team every year is always interesting.
"We love coming up with new ideas. We love having something exciting for the Stampede, for the people of Calgary to enjoy," he said.
Andrews said a lot of thought goes into coming up with a new idea for the event, such as this year's mini-donut boba lemonade.
"So you can't have Stampede without lemonade or without mini donuts. So we put the two together with the mini-donut lemonade," he said.
The beverage includes an interesting mix of ingredients like lemonade, mini-donut milk and "honey popping pearls topped with a mini donut."

Other eye-catching entries include cheesy ramen, butter chicken poutine and a special treat for Star Wars fans — lightsaber cotton candy.
The Calgary Stampede runs July 7 to 16.
