A fire in a North End Winnipeg residence has left one person dead.

Fire crews were called around 12:30 a.m. to the two-storey building on&nbsp;Flora Avenue&nbsp;near McGregor&nbsp;Street, which police said is a rooming house.

While extinguishing the flames, firefighters located a body and called&nbsp;police. A woman was also treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

No information about the&nbsp;sex or age&nbsp;of the person found dead, nor the suspected cause of death, has been released by police.

The police service's major crimes unit is&nbsp;investigating and anyone with information is asked to call&nbsp;204-986-6219 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).&nbsp;

The NDP's health critic alleged that Health Minister Audrey Gordon accused them of paying nurses with a sexual assault program to resign so the Opposition could score a political victory. On Wednesday, the Speaker of the Manitoba Legislature ruled the official transcript doesn't have any record of such a comment.
