Hamilton is poised to see a new cast of baby peregrine falcons this year as two eggs have been spotted atop the Sheraton Hotel.
The pair of eggs, seen on Monday and Wednesday according to Hamilton Falconwatch, marks the second year Mckeever and her male mate Judson have occupied the nest on the downtown building.
In 2023, the pair produced four chicks — Wynnstay, Balfour, Auchmar and Dundurn.
Hamilton Falconwatch's website said Mckeever may lay another egg or two in the coming days.
"As usual for Peregrine clutches, the first egg will not be incubated full time, but will be allowed to stay cooler, slowing its development," the Falconwatch website said.
"By slowing the first egg's development, she makes it more likely that all the eggs will hatch within a day of each other, insuring no chick has a size disadvantage when they all start clamouring for meals."
The group said the spotty, brownish-red eggs will hatch in about 40 days.
This comes after the death of Lily, the last female falcon who used to roost on the Sheraton.
McKeever flew to Hamilton from Windsor and took over for Lily.
Her male mate Judson showed up in the area in 2021.
