A street in Winnipeg's Valley Gardens neighbourhood has reopened after a weapon call shut a section of it down Wednesday morning.

Police were called around 8:30 a.m. about someone being seen with a weapon.

That prompted them to close Louelda Street &nbsp;between Concordia and Kimberley avenues, west of Concordia Hospital.

Everything was reopened shortly after 10 a.m.

Changes needed to cutoff age for Child and Family Services support, Manitoba youth advocacy network says

The province says 625 Manitoba children will age out of Child and Family Services when they turn 18 this year. Some are now calling for that age cutoff to be dropped.

Thompson businesses not sure of next steps after fire forces them out of mall

A fire in downtown Thompson last week has forced roughly half a dozen businesses to set up shop elsewhere in the northern Manitoba city, with the future looking unclear for some.

Crews are again fighting a fire at the Shoppers Drug Mart and adjoining businesses in Thompson, Man., after initially responding to the same blaze at the business around 1:50 a.m. Thursday, RCMP say.
