Juno Award-winning producer Rich Kidd has worked with Drake, K-os, Kendrick Lamar, and more. Now, he's celebrating his latest collaboration: contributing the theme music for Commotion with Elamin Abdelmahmoud!
Rich Kidd joined Elamin to chat about having his beat chosen to introduce the new show.
"It's great. It's beautiful. When I made that beat, I think I was living in Jane and Finch with my cousin, and I set up my little studio in there, and I made that beat, and it was me programming everything. I don't even play the keys or nothing like that. I just programmed everything in that song, no samples in it or anything. So to hear it as a theme song — I love the way the song has so much life now."
What listeners may not know is that before it was the Commotion theme song, Rich Kidd's beat was also used for a King Reign song called "My Baby."
