Bicentennial School in Dartmouth, N.S., reopened Wednesday morning after being closed for several days due to suspected asbestos.

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education previously said&nbsp;"higher than acceptable levels" of asbestos were found in two classrooms under construction.&nbsp;

On Tuesday, the centre said it received confirmation from the Labour Department and a third-party expert that all tests conducted came back clear.

, and its 408 students in pre-primary to Grade 9&nbsp;remained home until Tuesday.

Vendors at local Christmas markets say they are heartened by support

Small businesses are being hit hard by inflation this holiday season, but they say they are seeing overwhelming support from shoppers. Local artisans attended a pop-up Christmas market on Sunday in Halifax. Jewelry, pottery, clothing, decorations and baked goods were among the items available.

Notorious sex offender who committed crimes in N.S. denied parole in New York

A sex offender who committed crimes in Nova Scotia and was later extradited to the U.S. will remain incarcerated in New York because his release "would be incompatible with the welfare of society," parole officials there said in a recent decision.

All tests for asbestos conducted since Thursday at Bicentennial School in Dartmouth, N.S., have come back clear.
