Lily Cheng will be the next city councillor for Willowdale after defeating Markus O'Brien Fehr in what turned out to be the only close race in Toronto's four northern wards.
Cheng, the executive director of the NeighbourLink North York food bank, captured nearly 42 per cent of the vote share with a majority of polls reporting results.
The incumbents in the other three wards — Shelley Carroll in Don Valley North, Anthony Perruzza in Humber River–Black Creek and James Pasternak in York Centre — all won handily.
