There are 6 candidates running in this race, now that the longtime incumbent isn't returning
Diane Deans has been the councillor for Gloucester-Southgate — or at least part of it — since 1994. She had planned to run for mayor, but then changed her mind in June.
She has won handily in virtually all of her elections, including grabbing 56 per cent of the vote in 2018.
But now that she's stepping down from her council seat, six candidates are vying to replace her: Aria Alavi, Jessica Bradley, Taylor Houstoun, Ron Keays, Hussein Mahmoud and John Redins.
Election day is Monday, Oct. 24. For more information about where and how to vote, visit the city's election page.
