College race won't include beleaguered veteran incumbent

There are 5 competitors in College ward in what is now an open field

Despite indications of intending to run, the long-time and beleaguered incumbent for College didn't end up running for re-election, to the surprise and relief of some of the ward's constituents.
Now, five people are running for the open seat that includes the Bells Corner community.
Wendy Davidson, Vilteau Delvas, Laine Johnson, Granda Kopytko, and Pat McGarry are all vying to represent the ward on the next Ottawa council.
With a population around 52,000, this is one of the larger wards in the city.
Election day is Monday, Oct. 24. For more information about where and how to vote, visit the city's election page(external link).
