Large-scale technical outage puts some broadcasting offline
CBC Kitchener-Waterloo's radio station has been taken offline due to technical issues, in an internet outage affecting many Rogers telecommunication customers across Canada.
The station went off the air about 5 a.m. ET Friday.
CBC technicians are working on restoring programming. In the meantime, CBC listeners in Waterloo region and Wellington County are receiving programming from Toronto and/or London, Ont.
Mobile, internet customers affected
The communications outage is affecting Rogers Ontario customers from Windsor to Sault Ste Marie.
Police in many locations, including Waterloo region, have noted that Rogers and Fido mobile or home phone customers may not have telephone service and would be unable to call 911 service if needed.
