Several streets will be closed&nbsp;in Halifax and Dartmouth this weekend for the Blue Nose Marathon.

Closures are in Halifax on Saturday and Halifax and Dartmouth on Sunday

. Some streets will close at 5 a.m. and not reopen until 4 p.m.

The five-kilometre race and youth races are Saturday between 8 a.m. and noon in downtown Halifax.

On Sunday, the 10K, half-marathon and marathon&nbsp;will take place between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. throughout Halifax and Dartmouth.

Halifax police will provide traffic control along the race routes.

Yarmouth County wildfire was largest in N.S. since 1976; fire risk in province remains high

Last week's wildfire in Yarmouth County, N.S., was the second largest in the province in half a century. And the risk for more large fires remains high.

Wildfire near Horseshoe Lake, Yarmouth County on Tuesday morning was estimated to be 350 hectares. It is now estimated to be 1,000 hectares.

A recent wildfire in Yarmouth County reached 3,100 hectares. It is the largest fire in the province since 1976.

Scrapyard fire extinguished in Dartmouth industrial park

Firefighters responded Friday morning to a large fire at a scrapyard in the Burnside industrial park of Dartmouth, N.S. District Chief Pat Kline said crews were able to extinguish the blaze and leave after 6 p.m.

4 of 5 village commission seats in Baddeck up for grabs next month

Elections have been scheduled for June 27 for the village commission in Baddeck, N.S., to replace the chair, who has resigned, and three others whose terms are up.
