CBC Nova Scotia's Erin Pottie and Maisyn Sock are making connections and learning more about the people, places and stories that the community of Eskasoni is passionate about.

Erin and Maisyn have set up a community bureau office in the Sarah Denny Cultural Centre, and will be there until May 27, 2022. They will also be working from various locations around Eskasoni. We'll let you know where they are on the CBC Cape Breton Facebook page.

Our goal is to make it easy to connect with us and have an informal chat about whatever matters most to you and what you want from CBC.

Maisyn Sock is a proud young Mi'kmaw woman from Eskasoni First Nation. She also has roots in Elsipogtog. Maisyn takes pride in where she comes from, and is passionate about helping share Eskasoni's stories. She is especially excited about building connections with community members and learning more about the history of Eskasoni. In her free time, Maisyn enjoys painting, writing and podcasting with her twin, Camryn.

Erin Pottie is a journalist with CBC in Cape Breton. She has long admired Eskasoni for its welcoming people and its strong sense of community. Erin looks forward to continuing to tell stories from the thoughtful, passionate and innovative people who live there. In particular, she's interested in hearing more about Mi'kmaw culture, traditions and folklore on Unama'ki (Cape Breton).
