Saskatoon long-term care homes are moving to Level 1 restrictions as of 4 p.m. Jan. 6., according to a news release.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) said that it's limiting visitors because of increased community transmission of COVID-19 in the city.
According to the SHA, Level 1 restrictions mean:
  • Each resident can designate two consistent essential family/support persons. One person can be present at a time indoors.
  • No limit on persons present at a time outdoors.
  • More than two essential family/support persons can be designated for patients in these areas: end-of-life or palliative care.
  • Two essential family/support persons can be present at the same time in these areas; end-of-life or palliative care.
Proof of vaccination for visitors and family support people is required.
The restrictions will be reviewed in two weeks, according to an SHA news release.
"Level 1 restriction will only be maintained if the outcomes of Omicron in LTC warrant it at that time," the release reads, in part.
