Alberta has been in the grips of a prolonged cold snap over most of this holiday season thanks to an icy arctic weather system that's brought frostbite warnings and kept most people indoors.
But the frigid temperatures and fresh snow also inspired some Calgary residents to venture out long enough to snap some really pretty pictures.
And many people were kind enough to share them with CBC Calgary via Instagram and other social media.
